     Founding partner Karen Marty worked in-house for cities for 15 years before entering private practice.  She learned how cities reach decisions, as well as the details and traps of zoning and municipal law.  Since entering private practice, she has learned to fully appreciate the financial and time constraints that developers and property owners face in dealing with government.  Understanding both sides enables her to find the fastest and most cost-effective solution to many land use and government issues.

     Ms. Marty’s background and experience enable her to provide clients with practical advice for handling matters outside the courtroom, as well as representing clients in litigation and appeals.  In addition to this traditional legal work, Ms. Marty has conducted special investigations for cities.  She also regularly serves as an administrative law judge, hearing appeals from city actions.
